Congress Releases FY 2014 Funding Bill

January 15, 2014 Congress to Finalize FY 2014 Federal Funding On Monday, January 13, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees released the final version of fiscal year (FY) 2014 funding legislation . Both chambers are expected to approve the legislation and the President is expected to sign the legislation into law by January 18, when the current stopgap funding measure is set to expire.   The omnibus (combined) funding legislation funds the government at the topline spending level laid out by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 (signed into law in late December 2013). The FY 2014 funding legislation represents a compromise between the funding bills released by the House and Senate in mid-2013, with many of the funding levels falling somewhere in between those two proposals, and nearly all funding levels falling short of the amounts proposed in the President's FY

January 16, 2014 SOAR Transitions At a Retirement "Roast" yesterday, we bid farewell to Deb Dennis who is leaving Policy Research Associates, Inc. after more than 25 years. As many of you know, Deb has been the Project Director of the SAMHSA SOAR Technical Assistance Center since its inception in 2009. The SOAR program has grown tremendously under her leadership, and she will be missed! However, she will remain involved and interested in SOAR, both as a consultant to the TA Center and as a SOAR practitioner in the Albany, NY, area. We wish Deb all the best in her retirement! At the same time, we welcome Kristin Lupfer as our new Project Director! Kristin began as a Senior Project Associate on the SOAR TA Team in 2009 and has been the Associate Director for the past year. Prior to coming to the SOAR TA Center, Kristin served people experiencing homelessness in New York City and Atlanta, and conducted research and data analys
