Alliance to Screen Documentary 'Lost Angels' at Conference* On the second day of the Alliance's 2014 National Conference on Ending Homelessness at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel in Washington, DC, conference attendees will have a chance to attend a free screening of "Lost Angels," a documentary film about life on Skid Row. The film covers the history of the area of Los Angeles, notorious for its poverty, and chronicles the lives of its low-income and homeless residents and efforts by the city to revitalize the neighborhood. The film will screen at 4:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 30, in the Mt. Vernon room. DVDs of the film will be available for purchase for $10 during the conference. [MARHMIS] RE: Tracking meals - HMIS, or, other software?

Hello Kelly, New Jersey Collaborative implemented the Bio-Metric technology to capture services such as meals, food bags, nightly shelters stays and drop in center activities. The services can be predetermined checked from a list of options. Clients scan their finger (which cannot be lost or have to be reproduced) The system allows you to scan multiple fingers for a client in case one is not scanning during a visit. The process in NJ is set to automatically update the HMIS without human intervention every 6 hours. We would recommend Biometric because of the limited hardware need and the flexibility of using finger scans and  Facial or iris recognition alone or in concert with each other. The agency’s cost for implementing Bio-Metric would be recouped 100 times over with the  savings in reduced data entry hours and improved data quality on the HMIS.
