Save the Date October 8+9, 2014

We just received confirmation that the COC Program FY2013 Start Up Conference will be held on Wednesday October 8 and Thursday morning October 9, 2014. This day and ½ training session will be delivered by a HUD TA provider from The Cloudburst Group, Sharon Price, at the Columbia Gateway Bldg. (Room 5) located at 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia, MD 21046. Registration will commence in a couple of weeks through Cloudburst Group. Ann M. Last week, I focused on Housing First as a best practice housing model. This week, I’m going to discuss rapid re-housing (RRH)—which follows Housing First principles—as a model and best practice. Although RRH programs have been used in some communities for many years, they have only recently started to be widely adopted. Evidence of their impact is growing, and HUD is encouraging CoCs to significantly expand RRH, particularly for families with children. T

Submission Deadline: TODAY, August 6, 2014 at 7:59:59 PM EDT As of Today, 2:00 p.m., August 6, 2014, 354 Collaborative Applicants have submitted the CoC registration . 4 CoCs HAVE NOT gone into e-snaps to begin the Registration process 1 CoC has registered for the Funding Opportunity, but HAS NOT started filling out the Registration forms. 52 CoCs are “In Progress,” meaning they are in the process of completing the Registration forms in e-snaps .

Reminder: eCon Planning Suite 2014 - State Grantees Live Online Training on August 14 & 28 Registration closes Friday August 8, 2014 at 1:59PM EST. These U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sponsored two-day eCon Planning Suite Live Online trainings will focus on how to complete the Consolidated Plan in IDIS Online Each training will be conducted in two sessions from  12:00 PM EDT to 4:30 PM EDT . There will be a 30 minute break during each session. Participants must attend both sessions. August 14 & 28, 2014

This prohibition is not in the Housing and Community Development Act, but is contained in each year’s HUD Appropriations Act. Reminder: August 16 Consolidated Plan/Action Plan Submission Deadline Approaches In order for a grantee to receive its annual CDBG allocation, HUD regulations at 24 CFR 91.115(a)(2) requires that a grantee submit its Action Plans to HUD no earlier than November 15 or later than August 16 of the federal fiscal year for which the grant funds are appropriated. The authority for these deadlines is Section 116(b) of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. Since the deadlines are established pursuant to the Act, they may not be waived.
