Alliance Releases Community Snapshot of Memphis-Shelby County The Alliance has released a Community Snapshot of Memphis-Shelby County, Tennessee that provides an overview of the community's progress on ending homelessness. From 2012 to 2013, overall homelessness in Memphis-Shelby County decreased by 12.5 percent and chronic homelessness among individuals decreased by 17 percent. Community stakeholders identified an increase in the supply of permanent supportive housing, prioritization of chronic homelessness, and conversion of transitional housing as instrumental in reaching these decreases. Regular Registration Ends, Late Registration Begins The regular registration rate for the Alliance's 2014 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness expired on Monday, January 20, but you can still register for the conference at the late registration rate of $625 until 3 p.m. ET on Friday, February 7. The conference will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans this February 18 to 19. Should you need to cancel your registration, you must do so in writing by Friday, February 14. The Alliance will deduct a $100 processing fee and a $25 cancellation fee from your refund. After February 14, the Alliance will no longer grant refunds. ...

January 15, 2014 Congress to Finalize FY 2014 Federal Funding On Monday, January 13, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees released the final version of fiscal year (FY) 2014 funding legislation . Both chambers are expected to approve the legislation and the President is expected to sign the legislation into law by January 18, when the current stopgap funding measure is set to expire.   The omnibus (combined) funding legislation funds the government at the topline spending level laid out by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 (signed into law in late December 2013).
