March 13, 2015 House and Senate Sign-On Letters Circulate! Earlier this week, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Senator Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY), and Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI), began asking their colleagues in the House and Senate to join "Dear Colleague" Member sign-on letters in support of HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants. The House letter  calls for strongly supporting McKinney and the Senate letter calls for providing $2.480 billion for McKinney in (FY) 2016 - the same amount requested by the President in his Budget Proposal. The Senate letter also calls for providing $21.1 billion for Section 8 Tenant-Based Rental Assistance in FY 2016.   We need to get as many representatives' and senators' signatures as possible on these letters, and we need YOUR help! HUD Announces Notice of Intent to Conduct Project Demonstration on Violence Against Women and HIV/AIDS Housing  WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced it will take the next step toward an exploratory grant program to assist low-income victims of domestic violence living with HIV/AIDS. HUD released a notice of intent to fund demonstration projects focused on helping this population. The Department shared the announcement on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at a White House event to commemorate National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The purpose of the notice is to solicit public comment on an exploratory grant program designed to strategically coordinate the expertise and resources of HIV/AIDS housing providers and domestic violence and sexual assault service providers .
