We appreciate the work that NHCs, VAMCs, and SSVF grantees have done as a result of coordination efforts and the waiver process for collaborating SSVF resources with HUD-VASH and GPD. This successful coordination demonstrates that the existing waiver process is now no longer necessary. Effectively immediately the waiver form requirement described in previous guidance will be discontinued.  Decisions on the provision of SSVF homeless services to Veterans in these VA programs will now rest with the local SSVF provider working in cooperation with local VA staff and no longer requires additional authority or waivers to provide services.  During this webinar, John Kuhn, SSVF Director will provide information regarding this modification to the guidelines.

Regional Meetings Planned for August and September
The Program Office is pleased to offer a third regional meeting for SSVF grantees in late August and September.  We acknowledge that SSVF had indicated that the mandatory training  had been completed for this fiscal year.  We are fortunate to have received approval to provide this additional training before the end of the fiscal year.  For those grantees who may have submitted program changes re-allocating budgeted funds to another area, any variance in costs incurred for participating in this additional regional meeting may be explained in appropriate column on the Quarterly Report.  Additional information will be coming soon.

National Center for Homelessness among Veterans  Mailing list
The National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans promotes recovery-oriented care for Veterans who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness by developing and disseminating evidence-based policies, programs, and best practices.  In order to keep grantees updated on the latest research,  the SSVF Program Office will be adding primary and secondary contacts for grantees to the mailing list for the National Center's newsletter.  The next newsletter will be distributed in August and includes research updates and accomplishments of various VA homeless programs.

Mayors Conference Announcement on Ending Veteran Homelessness
On June 4th,   First Lady Michelle Obama announced the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness. SSVF  was identified as one of the key programs in this effort.  Below you will find the links to the speeches.  Keep up the great work!
