Conference Reminder: Film Screening Scheduled, Table Deadline, Sponsorships


On Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7:15 p.m. PT, the second day of the Alliance's 2015 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, conference attendees will have a chance to attend a free screening of "The Homestretch," a documentary film about youth homelessness. The film follows the lives of three homeless teenagers as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and build futures for themselves.
Information Table Deadline Approaching

President to Deliver State of the Union Address
Tonight, President Barack Obama will deliver the 2015 State of the Union address. In his speech, the President is expected to cover topics including free community college tuition, a new tax reform, and cybersecurity protections. He is also expected to urge Congress to address issues such as income inequality and economic mobility.
Congress Returns from Recess
The House and the Senate departed for recess for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Jan. 14 and Jan. 16, respectively. Both chambers reconvened today.



The Alliance has published a recording of a webinar that originally streamed Jan. 13, on rent and move-in assistance for rapid re-housing providers. The webinar, "Rapid Re-Housing Core Components: Housing Identification" was the second in a three-part series exploring the "Core Components of Rapid Re-Housing," which the Alliance crafted in cooperation with the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness. Speakers discussed using rental assistance to help different populations, assessing the needs of households, and integrating rental assistance costs into a program budget.
Earlier this month the city of New Orleans reached a historic milestone when Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced that New Orleans had ended homelessness among veterans. In this post, we look at this accomplishment and what it means for the national fight to end veteran homelessness.
