Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week
A Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Office of Planning and Community Conservation. 
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.

 Examples of Duties:
Under general supervision, performs paraprofessional and technical planning work in support of a planning or zoning function.
  • Assists planners in the research and preparation of reports, presentations, and projects.
  • Researches, gathers, and compiles technical information and statistical data.
  • Presents information using narrative reports, maps, charts, drawings and computer graphics.
  • Maintains and updates official land use and zoning maps.
  • Prepares visual presentations, including maps and various graphic techniques illustrating land use, building design, population density, public utilities, and other aspects of planning and zoning work.
  • Provides information to developers and the general public regarding planning and zoning regulations and policies.
  • Researches land ownership and zoning issues.
  • Makes field inspections in support of studies or map work.
  • Maintains and updates files, map libraries, and automated data bases.
Examples of Other Duties
May assist in the routine review and approval of various permit applications. Performs other related duties as required.

 Qualifications:
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent

plus

two years' experience in drafting, graphics, permit review, or planning.

Additional education in planning or a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Proof of Licenses, Certifications and EducationApplicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
