ALLIANCE TO RELEASE 'STATE OF HOMELESSNESS 2015'
The Alliance will release its annual "State of Homelessness" report on Thursday, April 2. The “State of Homelessness in America 2015” will be the fifth in a series of reports meant to serve as reference for policymakers, journalists, and community and state leaders. The upcoming report uses the most recently available data to present national and state trends in homelessness between 2013 and 2014, trends in populations at risk of homelessness from 2012 to 2013, and trends in the types and utilization of assistance available to people experiencing homelessness.

Upcoming Webinar: Family Intervention Models for Homeless and At-Risk Youth
Tuesday, April 7, 2 to 3 p.m. ET
On Tuesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. ET, the Alliance will host a webinar highlighting two effective family intervention models implemented by youth providers. During the webinar, “Family Intervention Models for Homeless and At-Risk Youth,” speakers will discuss the models used by Cocoon House and the Ruth Ellis Center, including one model that facilitates family reconnection for LGBT youth, many of whom become homeless as a result of their families rejecting them because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Report: 100,000 Homes Campaign Made Major Impact
In a recently published report that examined data from the 100,000 Homes Campaign and national data on homelessness, the Urban Institute found that the Campaign made a national impact in reducing homelessness. Launched by the nonprofit Community Solutions, the Campaign employed a grassroots approach to invigorate local communities to reach its goal of housing the 100,000 most vulnerable homeless individuals and families. According to the report, the Campaign recruited nearly every major city, and communities that participated in the campaign were more successful in reducing homelessness than nonparticipating communities.

Here are the 3 Components Every Rapid Re-Housing Program Should Have
by naehblog
Rapid re-housing isn't easy, but it is simple. And it's bringing us closer and closer to ending veteran homelessness by the end of this year. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) grants to community organizations across the country have taken the rapid re-housing intervention to a scale previously unseen, and the impact on veteran homelessness has been astonishing.
It isn’t easy. People experiencing homelessness often face numerous barriers to getting into and retaining stable, permanent housing. Data from Fiscal Year 2013 shows that more than half of the veterans participating in SSVF services had a disabling condition; 44 percent had a substance use disorder; and nearly a third had no income at the time of program entry. Yet 84 percent of participants exited the program to permanent housing with a median length of 90 days of services.
How has SSVF managed to achieve such dramatic outcomes?
