Farewell Dr. Fischer

We are sad to announce that Dr. Pamela Fischer will be retiring from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the end of May. In addition to her many other responsibilities, Dr. Fischer has been the federal project officer for the SOAR Technical Assistance Center since 2011. Before entering federal service, Dr. Fischer worked as an epidemiologist and anthropologist at Johns Hopkins University where she studied the relationship between homelessness and mental health. Her publications on homelessness guided a generation of researchers, activists, and clinicians with her insights and observations.

Dr. Fischer has been a long-time supporter of SOAR and was instrumental in facilitating SOAR collaborations with USICH, SSA, Veterans Affairs, and SAMHSA's Office of Tribal Affairs and Policy. We'll greatly miss her leadership and expertise and wish her well in retirement.
