Senate Passes Continuing Resolution, House Vote Expected
The Senate has passed (72-26) a short-term spending bill that will keep the government running through December 9. The spending bill includes funding at fiscal year (FY) 2016 levels for all low-income housing and homeless programs under the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The House is expected to pass the bill Wednesday evening. The deadline to fund federal agencies is Friday, Sept. 30 at midnight.

Portland Healthcare Providers Donate Millions to Help Homeless
Five hospitals and a nonprofit in Portland, Oregon say they will partner with Central City Concern to provide housing for the city’s homeless and low-income population.

“This is a breakthrough collaboration with the health care community and a partnership that has the potential to change the landscape of how we can end homelessness in this country,” said Nan Roman, president and CEO National Alliance to End Homelessness

The private health care organizations have committed $21.5 million toward the construction of nearly 400 housing units.
