FOR CURRENT GPD GRANTEES: GPD NOFA Published
GPD funding notice published Friday, December 23, 2016
Good morning NCHV friends and partners,
We've been talking about the GPD "reboot" for some time now, and it is here! The Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) was published Friday morning, and you can find it in the Federal Register or on the GPD website here. We will be sending additional information to you as it becomes available, so please be on the lookout for messages from NCHV and from the VA GPD Program Office.
Here's what you can start doing now:
  1. Read the NOFA (available now): Note that only current GPDs are eligible to apply!!
  2. Read the Notice of Termination (available now): This basically says that awards will be terminated on September 30, 2017 and that organizations with GPD need to respond to the NOFA
  3. Read the Frequently Asked Questions (available now): You can read this here.
  4. Participate in the NOFA webinars (registration information not yet available): The GPD program office will be providing a 2-hour webinar about the NOFA on January 17.  This webinar will be from 9:30 a.m. EST – 11:30 a.m. EST, with a repeat from 2:00 p.m. EST – 4:00 p.m. EST. A recording of the webinar will be available shortly after these presentations. If you are a current GPD grantee, you will be receiving a Save The Date with additional instructions from the VA GPD Program Office.
  5. Participate in the NOFA Question Webinars (registration information not yet available): The GPD program office will be providing additional follow-up webinars to answer current grantees' questions about the NOFA.
GPD is an incredibly important community resource. Your service through GPD helps tens of thousands of veterans each year. We know that, as with any new funding notice or significant change in a program, the application process can seem be stressful and overwhelming. This is a unique opportunity to reset and rethink models, quantify the incredible change you facilitate for veterans, and dig in deeper with local partners to build the best systems serving the veterans who need your programs.
This weekend, we were planning to send you all a note wishing you happy holidays and a restful end to the year. Many of you are already feeling swamped: working on your SSVF application, driving community partners to surge housing placements for as many veterans as possible through the end of the year, sorting out data to build a framework for this application, and pushing local partners to fill in the gaps during these cold winter months so no veteran has to go without care. Now, you have more work on your plate. One thing we know is that none of us shy away from a challenge, so let's dig in and keep going strong. We are here to help you, so don't hesitate to reach out to Josh or me.
On behalf of NCHV, I want to thank you for your service to veterans every day, including over the holidays and into 2017. Your work is transformative and humbling. We hope you will dig into this NOFA, but also take some time to embrace family, friends, and the recharge time you've earned this holiday season. Happy holidays and happy new year.
Best wish,
Baylee Crone
