Strategies to Address the Intersection of the Opioid Crisis and Homelessness
As discussed in USICH's blog, the United States is witnessing an unprecedented opioid crisis that is touching many segments of the population, from rural and suburban to urban communities and across socio-economic lines. To help communities address this, USICH has released Strategies to Address the Intersection of the Opioid Crisis and Homelessness, which identifies strategies that communities, providers, and policymakers can use to address the intersection of homelessness and the opioid crisis and highlights resources developed by federal and national partners to support such efforts.

Personal Experiences with Housing First | Successes, Challenges, and Recommendations Webinar
SAMHSA’s Homeless and Housing Resource Network (HHRN) is pleased to announce the latest webinar in its Persons with Lived Experience Spotlight Series. This webinar, “Personal Experiences with Housing First | Successes, Challenges, & Recommendations”, is a must for behavioral health and homeless/housing service providers, case managers, practitioners, and peers working with individuals with mental disorders or substance use disorders who are experiencing or are at risk for homelessness. The webinar will feature the personal experiences of three individuals who received services from providers implementing the Housing First model of housing for individuals experiencing homelessness in various parts of the country.
Moderated by SAMHSA Voice Award winner LaVerne D. Miller, Esq., of Policy Research Associates, Inc., this webinar will provide attendees with guidance from those with personal experiences with homeless and housing services. The presentations will enhance the understanding of those unique experiences while also offering recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of permanent housing assistance.
Join us for “Personal Experiences with Housing First | Successes, Challenges, & Recommendations” on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM EDT.
