Register Now: Rapid Rehousing Institutes – Duluth, GA and Los Angeles, CA
Dear Continuum of Care (CoC) Partners,
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in close partnership with HUD, our technical assistance providers, and other national partners, are excited to announce registration for two upcoming Rapid Rehousing Institutes (RRHI)! These events, which will be identical to each other in content and agenda, will bring together RRH practitioners and planners from around the country for an intensive, two-day training focused on two separate tracks: a Practice Track and a System Track. Attendees will be asked to identify which Track they are attending, and at which location, during the registration process. There is a limited amount of space for these events so we anticipate registration to fill up quickly.
The Practice Track will focus on direct training to RRH direct service practitioners. Some topics in the practice track will include an overview of the Core Components of RRH, Strategies for Engaging Landlords, Creating Housing Plans, Evaluating and Improving Performance and System Planning, among others. This Track is specifically designed for Direct Service Staff or new Supervisors who directly provide RRH services to clients as part of their job.
A separate System Track will focus on Community Coordination, RRH planning, Coordinated Entry/Prioritization, RRH Management and other community-wide practices relevant to successful implementation of RRH as a primary response to homelessness. This Track is specifically designed for community leaders and managers who are responsible for broader system planning and RRH implementation.
This new training opportunity aims to help standardize strong RRH practices across funding streams and provide an avenue for RRH practitioners and other stakeholders across the country to learn from one another and from our technical assistance specialists and faculty.
Each CoC is allowed to send up to three attendees to the event and may choose either location available, though all attendees from a given CoC should commit to the same location. This requires coordination in each CoC to decide who should attend these events. Continuums with Annual Renewal Demand (ARD) amounts of $20 Million or more are allowed to send up to 5 additional attendees (for a total of up to 8). Attendees may work under CoC Program RRH, Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESG) RRH, or both. This limit does NOT include attendees representing the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. Remember, registration is on a first come first serve basis; however, we encourage CoC and ESG recipients to coordinate and work with RRH providers to identify whether there are programs/staff interested in attending these trainings.
Two location options are available, both of which will have identical content and agendas:
  • Duluth, GA – October 24-25, 2017 (Attendees should arrive on October 23rd to ensure attendance beginning the morning of 10/24)

  • Los Angeles, CA – October 31 - November 1, 2017 (Attendees should arrive on October 30th to ensure attendance beginning the morning of 10/31)
Once you register, you’ll receive a generic confirmation email. Registrations received before midnight each day will receive an official confirmation with accommodation and travel details within 24 hours after registration. Please do not book flights or accommodations until you receive the official confirmation email. If you do not receive the confirmation email within the 24 hour period, please contact the RRHI planning team at ssvf@tacinc.org.
The RRHI Planning Team looks forward to seeing you at the event!
