NOFA Announced for FY 2017 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released the much-anticipated Notice of Funding Announcement for the FY 2017 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). The YHDP will select up to 11 communities, including at least five rural communities, to support in developing and implementing a coordinated community plan to prevent and end youth homelessness. A new guide from the Heartland Alliance helps community-based organizations and other employment service providers determine whether SNAP E&T funding is a good fit for their organizations, and whether their state is set up to partner with service providers to access this funding. The author explains, “Health care providers understand that solving health problems involves not only treating symptoms, but also understanding and addressing root causes. The same approach is needed to end homelessness.
