JOBS: Grant Svcs Specialist (Baltimore, MD)
Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Human Services is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to lead the development of Baltimore City's annual applications for homeless services funding and work closely with the Homeless Services Program leadership team to identify grant resources and monitor the preparation of grant applications. The individual in this position thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys the challenge of working in a diverse, goals- and mission-driven environment. Incumbent receives general supervision from the Deputy Director of the Homeless Services Program (HSP).
This position may require related duties in addition to those listed.
Leads the development of Baltimore's annual applications for homeless services funding through
federal and state sources including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) and State of Maryland. This includes but is not limited to:
Contribute information to the Consolidated Action Plan and Annual Action Plans as required by
Research and identify new public and private grant resources.
Develop departmental procedures for submitting applications.
Coordinate the development and writing of all grant proposals; monitor status of applications.
Maintain central repository of all grant proposal activity.
Provide primary staffing support for the Continuum of Care Resource Allocation Committee's
meetings and activities. Provide staffing support and information as needed for other committees
and workgroups of the Continuum of Care, such as the Resource Development Committee and
Collaboratively work with United Way of Central Maryland to manage grants made through
private funds raised under The Journey Home campaign. Participate on the MOHS grants committee.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Project management or related field and three years of experience in grant proposal writing and development, grants management, fundraising, or other related field.
Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Experience: The selected candidate for this position will have a proven track record in grant writing. Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of project management is preferred.
This is a full-time non-civil service position with a salary range of $54,468 - $93,636 and a comprehensive benefits package.
