Summer Council Meeting Shines a Spotlight on Needs and Opportunities in Rural Communities    





On July 19, representatives from our 19 member agencies convened to release Home, Together, the new federal strategic plan to prevent
and end homelessness.  
They also heard from representatives from communities in Mississippi and Alaska about the challenges and opportunities to end homelessness in rural areas.

Home, Together, the new federal strategic plan to prevent and end homelessness, was published last month. 
   
In this recording of a recently held webinar, we review the main strategies and goals in the plan, answer questions from communities, and highlight ways federal partners plan to continue supporting communities' work in the field.

New Report Offers Recommendations on Counting Youth Experiencing Homelessness in America 






Missed Opportunities: Counting Youth Experiencing Homelessness in America, the latest brief from Voices of Youth Count, summarizes key lessons learned from conducting point-in-time counts of youth experiencing homelessness in 22 diverse counties across the United States. 
The brief offers communities eight recommendations for conducting successful counts.

Rexanah has served as a policy analyst in the Baltimore Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice and as an Assistant State's Attorney for Montgomery County, MD. 

She joins our team as a Policy and Program Analyst, where she will be working on ending homelessness for families and youth, reducing criminal justice involvement for people experiencing homelessness, and racial equity.  
 
Congratulations to the partners in Miami-Dade County for their perseverance in reaching an effective end to Veteran homelessness!
