Innovation in Oklahoma
CSH and Cross Sector Innovations have received funding from the Arnall Family Foundation (AFF) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to work with service providers, investors and state agencies to develop and implement a supportive housing demonstration for high-risk youth in Oklahoma. The initiative will focus on youth ages 17 and older who are transitioning away from state services such as juvenile affairs or child welfare and are at high risk of experiencing homelessness or future justice-involvement. Justice-Involved Youth in MN
Preventing & Ending Homelessness for Justice Involved Youth in Minnesota is a transition planning tool for community-based providers working with young adults. This "Quick Guide" is a cross-departmental effort to concisely examine the intersection of youth homelessness and Minnesota's juvenile justice system. Planning for transitions from the juvenile justice system to housing is a significant opportunity to prevent and end youth homelessness. As the Guide suggests, transition planning should begin when youth first arrive at a juvenile justice facility. |

New York Justice Reform
For managers and developers of housing in New York State, our next installment of the "Are You Ready" webinar series will take place on January 31 from 10-11:30 a.m. ET. The webinar, Serving a Criminal Justice-Involved Population in Supportive Housing, is free and registration can be accessed by clicking here. In recent years, New York has advanced criminal justice reform, yet the question of housing for households with histories of justice-involvement remains insufficiently addressed. Systemic barriers to affordable housing with appropriate services leave far too many households with few or no options for avoiding homelessness or a return to incarceration. This webinar will bring together leaders from local government, development organizations and non-profits to discuss current efforts and proven practices for developing supportive housing and providing effective services to a criminal justice-involved population. |
