Innovation in Oklahoma
CSH and Cross Sector Innovations have received funding from the Arnall Family Foundation (AFF) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to work with service providers, investors and state agencies to develop and implement a supportive housing demonstration for high-risk youth in Oklahoma. The initiative will focus on youth ages 17 and older who are transitioning away from state services such as juvenile affairs or child welfare and are at high risk of experiencing homelessness or future justice-involvement. Justice-Involved Youth in MN
Preventing & Ending Homelessness for Justice Involved Youth in Minnesota is a transition planning tool for community-based providers working with young adults. This "Quick Guide" is a cross-departmental effort to concisely examine the intersection of youth homelessness and Minnesota's juvenile justice system. Planning for transitions from the juvenile justice system to housing is a significant opportunity to prevent and end youth homelessness. As the Guide suggests, transition planning should begin when youth first arrive at a juvenile justice facility. |

Jennifer Ho Leading Minnesota HFA
Former CSH Board Member Jennifer Ho has been tapped by Governor Tim Walz to lead the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. With deep roots in all things housing -- she once served as executive director of Hearth Connection and as Senior Policy Adviser at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development --Jennifer says she is eager to address the ever-increasing need for more affordable apartments and homes across the State of Minnesota. |

Weingart Foundation Grant Promotes Equity
CSH is pleased to announce support from the Weingart Foundation to help us implement strategies that use supportive housing to promote equity with historically marginalized communities of color in the Los Angeles area. This $125,00 grant will go toward strengthening our understanding of equity through training and education. The ultimate goal is to integrate awareness and this focus into our work with communities, supportive housing providers, policymakers and other stakeholders. |

Data Matching Overview for Health Centers
Health centers can be key partners in linking eligible individuals experiencing homelessness to sustainable affordable and supportive housing. Matching data from the homeless crisis response system to claims data from health centers is one way to identify and engage individuals in both systems who are medically vulnerable and experiencing homelessness. Our new Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-supported publication, HUD Policy Brief on Data Matching: Understanding the Impact And Potential for Health Centers, outlines the basics of data matching, specific steps health centers can take for implementation, and potential challenges they may face and how to overcome them. |

Housing Authorities Align for Health
The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities this past fall announced a project with UnitedHealth Group's UnitedHealthcare Community & State and CSH that is designed to improve health by "aligning housing and health systems to improve health outcomes of Medicaid beneficiaries being served through managed care and living in federally assisted housing," the Council said. The effort, which is supported by grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will focus on five communities: Columbus and Akron, Ohio; Houston and Austin, Texas; and the Seattle/King County area of Washington state. Needs of Homeless Students in NYC
Providing stability to the 100,000 homeless and temporarily housed children within New York City Schools is the goal of the system's Community School Division. NYC is committed to bringing equity and using a "whole child, whole community" approach to ascertain their most pressing needs and decide collaboratively which services will best help the student. Housing + Substance Use Recovery
CSH is offering a series of learnings aimed at bringing together supportive housing and homeless services providers and other systems to work more effectively with people who use substances, including opioids. The kick-off webinar for the series will be held on February 20, 1:30pm ET, and will cover the basics. With support from the AARP Foundation, CSH is pleased to announce its next Healthy Aging Academy. Building on several successful local academies on healthy aging, this new Academy takes learning and action to the next level by increasing the capacity of supportive, affordable housing and human services providers nationwide to help them meet the unique needs of elderly tenants. This Academy is for case managers and supervisory staff in supportive and affordable housing projects serving older adults. It also can be useful for property management staff.
