Register Now: DOL Webinar - The Expansion of HVRP Participant Eligibility: Connecting More Veterans to Employment Wednesday, July 31, 2019 2:00 – 3:00 pm EDT
In the fall of 2018 Congress passed two pieces of legislation that significantly impact HVRP by expanding the definitions for program eligibility. The new definitions broaden the window of eligibility allowing HVRP to serve veterans who were previously ineligible. The purpose of this webinar is to inform partners from the VA about these changes and how they can connect to HVRP to improve employment outcomes. This webinar will discuss how the changing landscape in homeless veteran services impacted HVRP, leading to this important change. The new eligibility definitions will be explained in detail using individual scenarios as examples.
The webinar will be led by DOL-VETS and the National Veterans Technical Assistance Center (NVTAC), in partnership with USICH and the VA.

A registration link will be sent when available.
New: USICH Documents Describe and Define Terms: Prevention, Diversion, and Rapid Exit
US Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) in collaboration with HUD and the VA have developed two documents that define the terms prevention, diversion, and rapid exit services. The documents also describe when these interventions should be provided to prevent homelessness or help households exit homelessness quickly. The SSVF Program Office encourages grantees to review these at the links below:

Save the Date: Federal Partners Housing Conference
The SSVF Program Office, with the support of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the US Interagency Council on Homelessness and other federal and national partners, is pleased to announce a Save the Date for the upcoming 2019 Federal Permanent Housing Conferences. The events are targeted to SSVF Grantees, HUD-VASH representatives, and CoC Partners.
While the site locations are still being confirmed, we anticipate the following schedule:
•East Coast (Charlotte, NC): October 22-23, 2019
•Mid-Region (Dallas, TX): November 5-6, 2019
•West Coast (San Diego, CA): November 19-20, 2019
We will continue to provide information as registration and travel logistics come into focus. In the meantime, questions related to these events can be sent to the SSVF program's technical assistance address at ssvf@tacinc.org.
Announcement: SSVF Rapid Resolution Training
The SSVF Program Office will soon release a document intended to help SSVF Grantees identify critical training needs for successful Rapid Resolution interventions. This will include a basic self-assessment of training needs as well as a standard form for requesting to use SSVF grant dollars to pay for local Rapid Resolution training partners. Further, the Program Office intends to provide a series of Rapid Resolution direct practice trainings in the Fall and Winter of 2019 to grantees who fall below certain grant size threshold and who may not otherwise have the capacity to hire or secure outside training support. Grantees are strongly encouraged to wait until this guidance is released before hiring any new training entities for your organization or community. The Program Office will also release a standard Training Request form that will be submitted through GIFTS for approval before spending additional SSVF grant resources on outside trainers. Grantees will be notified soon as to whether they have been selected to attend once of the VA-sponsored Rapid Resolution direct practice trainings later this year.
Thank you,
SSVF Program Office
