Celebrate With Us

This month marks national Community Action Month. Join us as we celebrate building strong families and transforming communities. For more than 50 years Community Action Agencies have provided services to the most vulnerable populations, and created pathways to move families out of poverty. This month we will share the work of Community Action Agencies and highlight the impact on individuals and families throughout the region. Stay tuned in to our social media pages, web page, and e-news for updates, stories and virtual events.

FEEDING THE NEED--On The Front Line

CAC has been a leader in providing food assistance to those in need across Howard County. While our service delivery at the Howard County Food Bank is typically rooted in client-choice, we began providing pre-packaged bags of food to clients in March in order to practice social distancing and protect the well-being of our staff and clients. In the months of March and April, CAC provided food assistance to more than 12,000 individuals at the Howard County Food Bank and at county-wide pop-up pantries. We are also partnering with community volunteers to deliver food to the homes of elderly residents. We were touched to see that several people who either personally benefited from the Food Bank or had someone in their family benefit from our distributions, donate (even $5) back to the Howard County Food Bank.
