To assist Veteran families who may be experiencing financial challenges, the Independence Fund established a new program, Independence@Home, to help homebound Veterans with emergent costs like rent, utilities, childcare, transportation, and grocery and medical product delivery. And now the program has expanded to offer qualifying Veterans $100 gift cards.

Job Placements Boost Veterans' Mental Health

Meaningful work helps boost mental health and well-being. VHA's Vocational Rehabilitation Service and Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) program partners with national and local employers to help Veterans find employment. "Employment provides meaning, stability, a sense of community and self-identity," says Veterans Health Administration's Donna Tasker.

Navy Veteran Bryan Bergjans joined right out of high school and continues serving in the Navy Reserves. He brings this extensive understanding of the military and Veteran customer to his current role as National Director of Military and VA lending.
Bryan uses different platforms to educate service members, Veterans, and eligible spouses about the VA Home Loan Benefit. For example, Home Owner Heroes and Military Spouse Mondays video series are published on YouTube, as well as other informative videos.
