Resources and assistance to support HUD's community partners Home Programs Resources Training HOME CARES Act Eviction Moratorium – Sample Letter to Owners and Sample Tenant Flyer Now Available On March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (P.L. 116-136) was signed into law. Section 4024 of the CARES Act imposes a 120-day moratorium on evictions. HUD’s Office of Affordable Housing Programs (OAHP) has issued a sample letter to owners and sample tenant flyer that Participating Jurisdictions (PJs) can use to notify property owners and tenants about the temporary eviction moratorium established by Section 4024 of the CARES Act.
