Dear Jason,

We are writing to share news about a new initiative at CSH designed to direct lending products and technical assistance to housing developers led and/or owned by Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

Called Redesigning Access by Centering Equity (RACE), the initiative is boosting the capacity of BIPOC developers and increasing supportive housing production in communities most impacted by systemic inequality and structural racism.

The initiative is currently focused on New York, Washington DC Metro, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area and Georgia. It is our hope to expand to other markets in the coming years.

As you may know, CSH is a nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI) that offers affordable loan products to help increase supportive housing development. Combined with our nationally-recognized technical assistance and training, CSH is committed to working with housing developers like you to increase affordable and supportive housing inventory in the communities you serve.

The RACE Initiative offers:

  • Access to capital through predevelopment, acquisition, and other loans with preferential interest rates and enhanced flexibility.

  • End-to-End customized technical assistance to guide you throughout the life of your project.

  • At a higher level, advocacy and systems level work to move the field towards the prioritization of publicly-funded awards to BIPOC-led developers.
