Earlier this month the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the 2021 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report to Congress (AHAR): Part 1. The report outlines key findings of the Point-In-Time (PIT) and Housing Inventory Counts (HIC) conducted in January 2021.
Specifically, it provides national, state, and CoC-level PIT and HIC estimates of sheltered homelessness for 2021. It also included estimates of chronically homeless, homeless veterans, and homeless children and youth.
Unlike previous reports, the 2021 AHAR focuses on people experiencing sheltered homelessness due to pandemic-related disruptions to counts of unsheltered homeless people in January 2021.

2022 Annual Conference | Coming Together: Facing the Future
The 2022 NCHV Annual Conference will take place June 1st through June 3rd at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. The theme for this year’s conference is Coming Together: Facing the Future.
Don’t miss out on the largest gathering of community-based service providers working with veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Based on current conditions, we are planning for an in-person event with enhanced safety protocols to comply with local regulations. More details including registration information is coming soon.

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Grand Hyatt for conference attendees at a discounted rate. This block is also expected to sell out. Click here to reserve your discounted room.
Hearings and Presentations
NCHV will present our legislative priorities at a joint hearing of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives Veterans’ Affairs Committees on March 2nd. At the hearing, NCHV will brief Congress on the issues members are facing while providing services, and highlight the needs of front-line service providers. Tune in to the hearing, using the Committee live streaming site HERE

NCHV has also been requested to submit testimony for the upcoming legislative hearing for the House Veterans Affairs Committee on March 16th.

Please take this opportunity to contact your representatives in the House and Senate to join in support of S.2172, The Building Solutions for Homeless Veterans Act. The act includes workforce and building improvements that would streamline service and enhance care for our nation's veterans. Find your member contacts HERE, call or email today!
